I had preconceived in my mind that the sky needed to be clear and blue. When I found the canal and the beautiful flowers, particularly the red, yellow and white flowers in the foreground, I shot it despite the overcast sky. I used a 15mm lens and got down on my stomach and hand-held the camera at 1/30 of a second. I think in hindsight that I was better off not to have had a crisp, clear day.
